Just go for the next shiny bit and try to get it done with least effort as soon as possible. No proper planning, no roadmap of any kind. All that matters is more content and features as soon as possible. They just don't seem to want to think more than 2 months into the future. Overall I don't really find this kind of shortsightedness from kunos surprising at all.

Will this person buy the content he doesn't really want for 15€ or will he just to go to a site somewhere that allows you to get it all for free? After he has all that stuff for free will he ever pay for it? But the server owner has put one dlc car into the mix you can no longer get to that gt3 server to drive your e30 m3 or z4 gt3. If you don't have any interest in the dlc cars and tracks but you like driving gt3s or the dtm historics and you like to drive the base content cars. The thing is with the way dlc is handled now there is even more reason to pirate the dlc content. There's no point spending to much time in preventing it. It would help to create a more cohesive community.Īs for piracey, I'm not an expert on the subject, but if your gonna steal it then you are going to find a way. I imagine in a year or two time when there are a few dlcs out, with new people joining the game it would be exciting to see all these cars on track, even if you don't have them. So as to how anything like this could be implemented that is something I have no idea if it's even possible. Imagine a track day where you join and see loads of unique cars driving around. I love the idea of being able to join a random server and see cars I've never seen before driving around. I thought this would be an amazing feature that would really help to push modding to the next level.

I said very early on into the games development that I though it would be a great idea if I could use a mod in a sever even if it hadn't been released, and have other people still be able to join that server. I have to say this problem also worries me.

Why use more encryption? if its cracked already, then someone who is going to steal it will do so anyway, they arent going to be put off by having to download the files from somewhere other than steam.Īnd yes we cant do **** about it, but with that attitude we would still be on booking servers with no flags, no harm in some discussion and wishful thinking right?Įdit: and 5 second forced throttle cut penalty For example, there's sperate folders for 'cars', 'skins' and 'tracks'.Click to expand.well yes that is of course part of the question, is it possible, but chances are yes, id have thought valve provide a decent api for devs to implement dlc license checks with, and its up to the dev to decide if the content is included for everyone, and then only do the license check if they try to drive the car, thus allowing them to load sessions with the other people driving dlc cars and you can drive the vanilla cars stilll, or alternatively how it is now: dlc is only downloaded when you buy it, and license check is done for all cars, even if you arent driving them.

Most mods will probably come with some instructions on where to place the files, but typically they can go in the folders inside the 'content' folder. The relevant folder can be found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\contentĪs you can see, the folder you want is called 'content'. So, before you download any new cars or tracks, you need to find where you'll want to unload your mod content.
